25 DAYS FOR EPILEPSY – FUNDRAISING CHAMPIONS CHALLENGE BOARD

This is the challenge board where you can review the fundraising updates of all our champions. (This page will be under construction until May 27, 2022).

CAM Cam is a longtime volunteer for the EEA. He is committed to ride his bike for at least 100 km between June 1 and June 25, 2022! This is why Cam plans to be a Fundraising Champion: “I have epilepsy and I am taking part in the 25 Days for Epilepsy” June fundraiser to raise funds for this association, which is very near and dear to me! I hope that the money I raise helps the EEA with its many  initiatives and programs that they offer to their members. “

CAM HAS RAISED TO DATE: $1,320

JASON – Jason is also a longtime member of the EEA. We featured Jason in our Members’ Stories in the May-June 2022 Newsletter. Jason will be walking daily during “25 Days for Epilepsy”. This is Jason’s reason for being a Fundraising Champion: “I want to take part in the 25 days of Epilepsy, to promote awareness of the EEA and epilepsy. I also want to focus on my health as I have been walking at least once a day for a month now, this is a great incentive to keep up my daily walks and get other residents involved in taking care of their health too. For the month of June, we are having a weekly walk where Jason is inviting all the residents of the Ashbourne to join him to raise awareness and focus on their personal health too.”  During Jason’s spare time he walks with his family, and their dog Pilu, who are avidly supporting him for the 25 days of Epilepsy.

JASON HAS RAISED TO DATE : $1,045

NOELLA – Noella is a member of the EEA and a Board of Director, as well as an enthusiastic fundraiser for our association, on behalf of her grandson, Jake, who lives with epilepsy. This is Noella’s reason for being a Fundraising Champion:
“I joined the EEA to support my grandson and to do whatever I could to learn and create awareness of this ever rampant brain condition. I am walking 40,000 steps and riding 40 miles (64 km) and have enlisted family and friends to help with their donation.”

NOELLA HAS RAISED TO DATE: $1,230

OWEN – Owen is a younger member of the EEA family, and he lives with epilepsy.  His mom, Susan, is a director with the Board of Directors of the EEA and they both live in Fort McMurray. Owen tells us that: “I have epilepsy and want to help raise money for others with my mom.”  He has committed to ride his bike for 50Km during the 25 Days for Epilepsy. Members of his family will all help out with other activities to raise awareness and funds together.

OWEN HAS RAISED TO DATE: $1,690

ARIEL – Ariel is a newer member of the EEA. She lives in Grand Prairie, Alberta, and she jumped at the opportunity to help out with this fundraiser. Ariel tells us: “I developed epilepsy in 2020 at the age of 29. Since then, I’ve experienced first-hand the consequences of this illness – mental health stressors, loss of independence, and the lack of knowledge of the general public about epilepsy, to name a few. I want to participate in this campaign to help bring awareness to this illness and its implications. I hope campaigns like this can help increase awareness among the general public and those in positions in government and healthcare to make positive changes for those suffering from epilepsy. ” Her challenge for the 25 Days for Epilepsy in her words: I challenge myself to bike 100km. My husband will be accompanying me and we will certainly be wearing purple as much as possible!”

ARIEL HAS RAISED TO DATE: $200

TAMMY H.  – Tammy is a Director of the EEA Board of Directors, and lives with epilepsy from a brain injury. She wishes to be an inspiration for those around her, creating awareness about epilepsy, and will challenge herself with a variety of physical activities, including yoga, which she knows helps with seizures. She will also walk everyday and eat more natural foods.

TAMMY HAS RAISED TO DATE: $375

TAMMY  AND ALLIE  – Tammy and Allie are joining our Fundraising Champion team together, as mother and daughter. Tammy is the current President of the EEA and a great supporter of our association!  Tammy and Allie share with us their reason and challenge in their own words: “When Allie was first diagnosed, we knew so little about epilepsy. We joined the EEA and have benefitted in so many ways from the association. Taking part in “25 days for epilepsy” is one way we can give back to the EEA and raise awareness about epilepsy. Allie often comments on the misinformation and lack of understanding that many people have about epilepsy and we have made it our mission to help take epilepsy out of the shadows and into the light. Our challenge is to walk or bike 100 km over the 25 days. We are also challenging ourselves to complete each of the EEA’s daily activity challenges”.

TAMMY AND ALLIE HAVE RAISED TO DATE: $350
