French Audiobooks Project – Reference Page
Project overview
The EEA received a small grant to support the creation of two French-language audiobooks, adapted from existing English titles in our epilepsy education series.
Between 2023 and 2024, the EEA successfully converted 10 of its 11 epilepsy-related books into English-language audiobooks. These audiobooks are available for free streaming on our website and can also be downloaded from 29 major audiobook platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify, and Hoopla.
We are now in the process of publishing two titles in French as audiobooks:

Project phases
PHASE 1: Script Review and Alignment
Timeline: Now through September 30, 2025
Location: Remote
Volunteers Needed: Minimum 3
In this phase, we’ll review the written French titles and compare them with the corresponding English versions that were used to produce the original audiobooks. This is to ensure the French content is accurate and divided into manageable “chunks” for easier recording.
This task can be completed remotely and may take up to 2 weeks. While we aim to finish this phase by the end of September, recording can begin earlier—as soon as one of the files (either French or English) is fully reviewed and ready.
PHASE 2: Studio Recording Sessions
Timeline: September 2025 – January 2026
Location: In-person at EEA – 9915 148 Street
Volunteers Needed: 2–3 fluent speakers of Canadian French
We’re looking for fluent Canadian French speakers who can attend in-person recording sessions. These sessions will be scheduled primarily after work hours and on weekends to take advantage of quieter studio times.
Recording dates and times will be shared once the volunteer team is confirmed.
PHASE 3: Audio Review and Quality Check
Timeline: February 2026
Location: Remote
Volunteers Needed: Minimum 3
After recording is complete, we’ll need volunteers to listen through the final audio files to ensure the quality is consistent—checking for pronunciation, clarity, proper accents, and overall accuracy.
This role can be done remotely and should take approximately one month to complete. Volunteers from Phase 1 are welcome to assist again in this phase.
